The 2008 "Best of Panama" winner is La Carleida Geisha. La Esmeralda Especial did not enter this year but went on to again take the #1 geisha placement and #2 overall at the 2008 SCAA annual cupping.

Specialty Coffee is the highest grade coffee available and thus truly gourmet coffee. Single Origin coffee is from one country. Coffee is cupped and scored like fine wine. It is a method of systematically evaluating the aroma and taste characteristics of a sample of coffee beans. The Coffee Taster's Flavor Wheel is a useful tool to evaluate the aroma and taste.
